Air Jordan 8 Retro "Alternate"

With 30+ years of history in its repertoire, and more years to come, the most revered Air Jordans are still the OG colorways. Jordan Brand turns that concept on its ear with the "Alternate" collection, which asks every sneaker head the existential question "What if?"

Essentially, the collection brings newly masterminded Chicago Bulls-centric colorways (no love for the Washington Wizards?) to iconic Air Jordan silhouettes with the understanding that Michael Jordan never wore them, but very well could have.

The first "Alternate" release of 2017 occupies the Air Jordan 8 model. At first glance, the design resembles the Bugs Bunny shoe. However, the upper on this version is all white leather, with tiny perforations appearing on the dual cross straps. Hints of black appear on the tongue, inner lining, the velcro straps, and midsole. Gym Red and Wolf Grey accents complete the look.

adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 "Zebra"

Eccentric. Innovative. Game-changing. Each of these terms describe Kanye West, and from a cultural perspective, his adidas Yeezy Boost line follows suit. However, the design aspect sneaker has been laser focused on form, functionality, and aesthetic as opposed to the audaciousness that's gone to define the Grammy Award winning producer-rapper's career.

But that changes now.

To kick off 2017, adidas delivers the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 in a "Zebra" colorway. Released just a few weeks after the "Black Red" colorway, this shoe sports a White and Core Black looks that's woven throughout the Primeknit upper with slip-on sock-like construction. The "SPLY-350" messaging appears in Red on the white painted side panel stripe. A TPU midsole covers the Boost cushioning, to complete the design.

From a release standpoint, the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 was extremely limited, with pairs only being available directly from adidas and one other major retailer.

Air Jordan Kobe Pack

On April 13, 2016, the world watched as Kobe Bryant stepped on the Staples Center floor for his final NBA game against the Utah Jazz. In typical Black Mamba fashion, he ended the game with 60 points (the most scored by any player during the 2015-2016 season) and a win. It was the perfect ending for the storied career of one of the greatest to ever play the game.

All eyes were on The Bean, as his farewell tour made news the entire season. He received his proverbial flowers while he could still smell them those who clamored to his games the entire season, from fans to fellow players to legends like his greatest inspiration Michael Jordan.

Off the court, Jordan Brand paid tribute to Bryant with the Air Jordan Kobe Pack, comprised of shoes 1-30 in two sets: a monochromatic white option and a black version. The lone deviation from solid colorways appear on the Air Jordan 3 and Air Jordan 8 silhouettes, which feature purple and gold Los Angeles Lakers-inspired accents.

Sneaker heads could bid on eBay for a chance to own the premium collection. Bidding started at $100K, and closed at $240K. Yes, you read that right. Here, we highlight the white AJ 3 and AJ 8.

kolor x adidas Ultra Boost

Japan-based brand kolor's batting average is astounding when collaborating with adidas. Having showed a preference for the Ultra Boost in the past, the duo take an, "if it isn't broken, don't fix it", approach to their latest creation.

The kolor x adidas Ultra Boost Pack features a standard version of the sneaker and an Uncaged model for this Japan exclusive. (There's no word on a stateside wide release just yet, though a few pair were sold unannounced at the adidas NYC flagship.) Focusing on the former, the two brands created an Ultra Boost with a woven Primeknit upper as its base. The "Gold Medal" heel cage finds its way on the design, as it's complimented by matte caging in teal on the mid-panel. Solar Red on the Continental rubberized outsole unit is an eye-catching touch. Yellow inner lining completes the "What The" mismatched look.

A marble motif defines the 2017 Nike Black History Month collection, but there's perhaps no shoe in the bunch that incorporates the design like the Air Force 1 High "BHM".

ACRONYM x NikeLab Air Force 1 Downtown Hi SP

ACRONYM is in a class of its own when creating products with technical functionality, whether it be their own releases or forward-thinking collaborations. Some of the best examples of the latter were created with Nike–namely their work on the iconic Air Force 1.

The two brands reconnect in 2017 via the ACRONYM x NikeLab Air Force 1 Downtown Hi SP, a model amended with a high-cut boot design constructed with nylon and sporting a brass zip-up unit. A German mil-spec fastener (an ankle strap secured by a buckle) provides stability. Pleated paneling adds to the shoe's futuristic aesthetic.

During a discussion panel at NikeLab 21 Mercer in SoHo, New York City, ACRONYM's Errolson Hugh revealed that the Air Force 1 Downtown design had been completed back in March 2013.

The ACRONYM x NikeLab Air Force 1 Downtown Hi SP released in a trio of colorways, including this version in Black, White, and Medium Olive.
